Our friend's wife will come from America for her first visit here. We would like to show our hospitality as a host and hope she won't be scared by the hot weather like living in a big oven.    

Therefore a bottle of nice cool red wine could be a cure for them to sip in our balcony and enjoy the summer night breeze at ease... :)

Recently our friend, Mike, has indigestion acid reflux(胃食道逆流) problems. He told us he went to a pharmacy and the pharmacy staff didn't speak English so he took a long time telling the staff what syndrome he had. But he said the medicine he brought was not effective at all to him. Therefore he turned to ask us any recommended medicine for acid reflux.  

​At that time, we were searching online and found one for him.  Later he said the one we recommended  to him was very effective.   Fortunately he got us to help , but what if a foreigner in Taiwan doesn't have friends to do translation for them?  It would be more convenient if there is an online pharmacy counseling app or website (interactive) for oversea visitors living in Taiwan.  :)

We've prepared hand-made zongzi (rice dumplings) for our friend, Mike, who comes to Taiwan for business for his first time visiting Taiwan, and he wonders how to eat zongzi!  It's very interesting that we took it for granted that everyone would know the ways of eating Zongzi, but it is not for a foreigner who has Zongzi for his first time.  So we found a youtube teaching how to eat zongzi in a proper way!  Most importantly , hope he would like Zongzi and found it delicious to have! :))

Remember the same time last year, we first met our guests from Canada who came for visiting their first grandson!  This year, they come to visit again.  We are thinking to impress them with different gifts (Last year we sent them a baby cloth ) and here they are (as shown in left photo)!  We hope DNA makes them feel like a home away from home. :)  And after receiving the gifts, they replied these are wonderful souvenirs of their visits to Taiwan!  hahah we are glad but also worried that what gifts we should prepare for their next visits. Anyway, the most important thing is that they like Taiwan and feel being at home as stay at our apartment! :))

This September , We decided to move to another new place where is much more near Taoyuan Center (near Train Station).  In order to live closed to where our parents apartment, that's why we decided to do!  All the furniture and decorations are by ourselves and we aimed to  make it a warm, cozy and countryside style living environment which we are dreaming long before.  And now our dream come true and hopefully we can host our guests and friends in this beautiful and lovely place!! :)

Today is a special day for us since our 60th guest is very happy about the souvenir we've prepared for him!  Even the day he came is also "special" because a powerful typhoon also arrived with him. We've well prepared instant noodles and some snacks for him upon his arrival because we worried there might be no shops/restaurants opened on the stormy day. Fortunately there were just few impacted on Taoyuan city, (but not for Taitung city) and he was arrived in our apartment safely.  

​For celebrating ?! our special guest on the special day, we made the limited edition, black mug, for him and he really likes it (whoo) :) It looks like we may need to think different surprised gift for his second stay someday. :))

As you may know (if you've been or living here),  it's really hot in summer , no kidding, if you're standing under big sun, you will be like burning for just a few minutes. 

Can you image that standing outdoor for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week,  in the burning weather like this?  So I think the best gift to him is preparing a heart-melting/delicious vanilla Ice cream with Oreo chips soaked in milk wine , and sprinkle a bit strawberry chocolate and cranberries as top dressings.  

What a surprised, those ingredients are so perfect matched!  So next time it's your turn to do the lovely comfort desserts for yourself / family / friends/ loved ones. :)

Last weekend, we traveled with our aunt, cousins and relatives to Kinment (金門).  Kinmen has its war history and battles heritages and lots of stories behind the pure, silent and un-over-modernized island.  

All you feel is the comfortable wind and slow pace at ease and cozy! People here are friendly and enjoying their life!  All you see is tress, oxes, peacock?!, pure blue sea and clear sky!  When nights fall, all you observe with own eyes is the starry starry sky with comfortable breeze....

Foods and snacks here are so delicious with Kinmen styles!  And the most important thing you cannot miss Kinmen wine (金門高梁)! One of the best places for wine-holics, peaceful/natural-life-lovers, and history discovers...!

It's an antique telephone, a real well function telephone! When we first met Dayu and mentioned thst we want an old fashion telephone for decorating DNApartment when accompanying him to a department store. It's really surprised that he still remember and sent it oversea for us!! Tears are in our eyes while receiving the gift. Not really for phone itself, but for the friendship keeping for us!! We hope there's a chance to meet up again in the future! Yesterday we attended an art class teaching us Decoupage(蝶古巴特)and paper clay! We want to .have a Mickey and Minnie key chains and related decorations placing in our apartment for a long time. Therefore our kind teacher taught us in every detail and glad that we made a coin bag and a memo holder in the end!

It's always exciting and delightful to learn something new and useful ;)

Tomorrow we have old guests/friends coming to stay and it's really glad to see old friends coming. 

But one thing we know for sure is to treasure every moment in life , every good person we meet around us! Life is short and enjoy it! ;)

Ps. we still clean the floor , desk, everything in the apartment with our own hands without using mop every time before friend coming.

Yesterday we were helping our friend to connect to his bank for solving the blocked credit card issue after his traveling overseas then back to here.  (PS. The main cause for the problem might be the Bank thinks his card was stolen because of the transaction records in several countries in a short period. )

After several phone calls ( 4 times?!) to the Customer Service, the first 3 were just nothing more than disappointment.  The responses he got were like "There's nothing we cannot do for you at this moment", or " You need to be in our branch office in person for applying a new card due to the possibly-broken-chip inside the card", or "You can try the card at any ATMs after the phone".bla bla bla .  But they all forgot our friend is currently here and how can he fly back  for solving the problem without any cash in hands because of the blocked credit card by the bank?   

​Finally the miracle(?!) happened when he talked to the fourth customer service staff, the Bank promised to compensate what he lose ( for the international call fees/ withdrawing cash in NTD with bad exchange rates for testifying if the card function well, etc).  Eventually the card is back to normal as going again to ATM after the fourth call .  However, we think there is one important thing that the Bank lose forever is the customer (our poor friend)'s faith on them and the reputation of the Bank.   

It did bring our memory of watching the Disney New Movie "Zootopia", there is a hilarious character called "Flash" which is an employee in DMV(Department of Motor Vehicles ), and it's irony that the Flash is actually a sloth which is famous by slow motions.  Sometime are we also becoming one of  Mr. Flash in our working fields? Being slow reacting to what our customers' needs ? Being lack of empathy to the situation customers currently stand in ?( such as no access to credit card/withdraw cash while traveling oversea for next several weeks ?)  

​However, what we learn is that "Don't apply the Bank's credit card and always remember to keep the Customer Service staff's extension numbers and their names" for next phone call if necessary . :P

Yesterday was the White Valentine's day which is usually celebrated in Japan ,other Asia countries.We made a not-really-good-looking chocolates for our lovely friend staying at our apartment after work.  When we delivered to our guest  mentioned that actually there is another Valentine's day on April 23rd.  We are so surprised to discover that fact. It is so interesting to know something we don't know in the past, like this 3rd Valentine's day , which is called St. George's day ( see details on wiki ).  So let's anticipate the coming of St. George day! :)))

One of our guests coming  looks for possible career development and language learning! When we heard his purpose of visiting  , we start to think what might be good/useful for him.  One day we went to a historical temple and found a talisman  pen-shaped which is used for blessing people's progress both in work and studies.  At that moment, we think it would be a perfect little present!  Because of its mini size, it's a bit difficult to be packed and finally We made it into this (refer to the photo).  Hahah

This new year We with two friends went to Europe for our holiday trips! we not only whiteness the beautiful scenery of Spain and Portugal, but met lots of nice local people as well as our hospitable ㄇ
airbnb hosts( yes, that's one of our purposes to experience different kinds of bnb hosting styles!:)

When coming back here, we start to think that although we didn't have romantic dinner in Europe, why not have it by ourselves just right at home? 

So that's the candlelight dinner of our own (DNA style?!) you see from the photo.;-) From the decorations to main dishes and desserts, all made by ourselves(of course, thanks to mighty Google! ;).   it proves the romantic dinner can be anywhere even just at the most ordinary place(your lovely home)!

The air, the eco environment and the wild animals ( Muntjac de Reeve, one kind of deer?/ Macaca cyclopis, Monkey/ crab-eating mongoose,etc.) we've seen there are really amazing and rare. They can't be found in concrete jungle in the urban area but you can be so closed to them while you are in the Garden! Definitely thumbs up for family, couple, nature-lovers to explore and watch  these lovely creatures in the beautiful paradise!!

So we do a little customized decoration for this young couple and hope they enjoy the journey here and leave a beautiful memories while staying at DNA :)   We also wish our friends all have a pleasant and joyful Christmas and Happy New Year of 2016! :)
